| Field notes | Clustering understorey palm, stem to 3-4 m high, 2-3 cm diam., internodes up to 10-15 cm, green with dense reddish, almost black indumentum. Ca 7 leaves in crown, shuttlecock, litter trapping, old leaves persisting on stem. Leaves bifid or broadly pinnate. Crownshaft 30 cm, sheaths pale green with red-black indumentum that continues on rachis. Petiole 0-10(-15) cm. Leaf to 150 cm long, split in distal 30-40 cm.
