| Field notes | Clustering, slender palm with stems to ca. 5m, total height to 6m, 1.5-2.5cm diameter, internodes 3.5- 8cm, green turning brown, shorter stems erect, longer stems leaning over river. Crownshaft 34-44cm x 3.5- 4.5 cm. Sheath 26-36cm long. Leaf including petiole 64-104cm, petiole 12-25cm. Leaflets 14-16 each side, arranged regularly, thick indumentum on rachis, rusty coloured, turning black with age. Inflorescence infrafoliar, branched to one order, comprising 4 rachillae in total, branches pink, petals white-pink. Fruit red when ripe. For making spears, otherwise not used. Vernacular: Serah.
