Field notes Clustering, robust tree palm to 25m with 3 adult stems in clump. Stem diameter 15cm. Internodes. 10cm., Crown with 8 leaves, leaves strongly ascending, almost erect, giving "shuttlecock" appearance. Crownshaft 180cm long x 15cm wide. Sheath 130cm, mid-green with numerous fine purple scales. Leaf 450cm long including 10cm petiole. Leaflets 78 each side of rachis, arranged regularly. Inflorescence c.90cm long, branched to 3 orders, proximal pair of primary branches strongly recurving, 15 primary branches, rachillae c.55cm long prior to staminate anthesis
