Field notes Solitary robust rattan to c.10m. Stem diameter with sheaths 35mm, without sheaths 25mm. Internodes 28cm. Sheath bluish green with numerous stiff spines of various sizes. Knee yellowish. Flagellum c.3m. Leaf 180cm long including 9cm petiole, rachis spines orange with black tips, young leaf rachises with wooly grey-white indumentum. Leaflets c.75 each side of rachis, fine, arranged regularly. Inflorescence erect, 220cm long including 40cm peduncle, 5 partial inflorescences, 35cm between partial inflorescences, pedunclular bracts tattering at mouths, dense purple tomentum on rachilla bracts. Flowers blackish
