| Field notes | Massive solitary tree palm to c. 30 m. Stem diameter 16 cm. Crown with 8 leaves, leaves with rachis arching towards the tip and leaflets pendulous. Crownshaft 175 cm long x 22 cm wide. Sheath 122 cm, pale yellowish green with minute purple scales. Leaf 390 cm including 13 cm petiole. Leaflets 91 each side of rachis, arranged regularly. Inflorescence 135 cm long, 15 primary branches, proximal pair strongly recurving, largest 113 cm long. Fruit ripe, 1 cm long, ellipsoid, with thin black pericarp, endosperm homogeneous.
