| Field notes | Hill forest with open understorey with abundant Hydriastele, Licuala and Orania. Moderate solitary tree palm to c.12m. Stem diam. 7 cm. Internode 2cm. Crown with 10 leaves. Leaf 310cm long including 70cm petiole and 47cm sheath, sheath and rachis with rust-colored indumentum. Leaflets 46 each side of rachis, arranged in different planes giving the leaf a plumose appearance. Inflorescence 96cm long including 46cm peduncle, branched to 2 orders, 29 primary branches, largest primary branch 48cm long. Pistillate flowers green, staminate flowers white. Locally frequent. Fruit spherical, 3.5cm diameter, orange green. |
