| Field notes | Massive solitary canopy tree palm to 30m, growing exclusively and gregariously on limestone crags and cliffs in dense populations consisting of numerous individuals. Stem c.15cm diam. with inner wood very soft and pithy. Internodes 4-5cm wide. Crownshaft 130cm long x 14cm wide. Crown with 20 leaves. Leaf strongly recurved with ascending leaflets, 270cm long including 60cm petiole. Leafiets 46 each side of rachis, arranged regularly. Inflorescence c.70cm long, including 3cm peduncle, horsetail-shaped. Staminate flowers white. Fruit red, ellipsoid. |
