| Field notes | Side of sharp ridge, lower montane forest. Robust, solitary, canopy tree palm to 25m. Crownshaft 180cm x 50cm. Sheath 140cm long, pale green with some wax and orange beige indument at top. Crown with 18 leaves, somewhat sperical. Leaves 450cm long, including 40 cm petiole. Leaflets pendulous, 667 each side. Inflorescence ascending, making 45 degree angle with trunk, branches arching, 80cm long including 25cm peduncle, branched to 3 orders, 18 primary branches, primary branches up to 50 cm long. Fruit ellipsoid, c. 1cm long, ripening through red to black with conspicuous white stripes |
