Field notes Solitary. Stem 5 m; diam. 56 cm; upper 1 m covered with persistent remains of sheath and petioles, columnar, internodes 25 cm at base, visible as oblique rings, brown. Leaves 17, erect, old leaves arching, rachis twisted so pinnae apear in a vertical plane; sheath + petiole 56 x 2 cm, light brown, rounded below, channeled above, margin sharp with fibers; rachis 746 cm x 14 cm x 7 cm, rounded below, channeled above, with a prominent ridge, abaxially ( brown tomentose ?), adaxially smooth green; pinnae 190 per side, regularly distributed, basal pinnae 57 x 0,4 cm, middle pinnae 123 x 6 cm, apical pinnae 44 x 1 cm. Inflorescence 1 + 1 (decaying) staminate; prophyll dropped; peduncular bract 265 x 35 cm, cross 1,5 cm, abaxially glabrous, creamy, adaxially brown longitudinally furrowed, furrowed, these 1 x 0,5 cm, terminating in a 65 cm long solid ti; peduncle 82 x 6 x 4 cm, oval in cross section, dotted with numerous fine brown spots; rachis 114 x 6 x 4 cm, creamy, glabrous, above each rachillae a prominent furrow; rachillae 155, each rachillae subtended by a bract, basal rachillae 34 cm long, middle rachillae 30 cm, apical rachillae 28 cm long, creamy, glabrous, flowers distributed 5 cm apart base, spirally towards apex, numerous, sepals 3; petals 3, 1,5 cm x 1,5 mm, freshly, stamens 6. Infructescences 6 decaying.
