| Field notes | Cespitose colonial understory palm. Stem 0.4 m high, 3 cm thick; internodes 3 cm long. Leaves 6-7 per stem; sheath 45 cm long, closed; petiole 110 cm long, section round; lamina palmate, 60 cm long, 120 cm wide, flat, glabrous; segments 2-3 per side, 60-65 cm long. Infructescence infrafoliar; prophyll 12 cm long, 1 cm wide, papery; peduncular bracts 6, 10-15 cm long, inserted 2, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 cm from base, brown, papery; peduncle 45 cm long, 0.7 cm wide; rachis 25 cm long, 0.5 cm wide; rachillae 7, 5-20 cm long. Fruits scaly, orange, 1.9 cm long, 2.3 cm wide. Silicagel sample taken. Transect: HB 760, subunit no. 81, inside transect |
