| Field notes | Solitary understory palm. Stem 0.7 m high, 4-5 cm thick, ascending; internodes <1 cm long, rough. Base of stem with few visible roots. Leaves 18; sheath 25 cm long, closed; petiole 50 cm long, section round; rachis 87 cm long; lamina entire, 123 cm long, 34cm wide, flat, glabrous. Infructescence interfoliar; prophyll 25 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, brown, herbaceous; peduncular bract 10 cm long, 1 cm wide, inserted 20 cm from base, brown, herbaceous; peduncle 40 cm long, 0.5 cm wide, vine red; spike 22 cm long, 1 cm wide, vine red.
