| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 1.2 m tall, 0.8 cm thick; internodes 2-4 cm long, smooth, brown/ green. Base of stem with few visible roots. Leaves 8 per stem; sheath 4 cm long, open; petiole 16 cm long, section round; rachis 30 cm long; lamina entire, 35 cm long, 12 cm wide, flat. Inflorescence interfoliar; prophyll 3 cm long, 1 cm wide, herbaceous; peduncular bract missing; peduncle 2 cm long, 0.4 cm wide; spike 6 cm long, 0.8 cm wide. Flowers sunken.
