Leaves 8 per stem; sheath 30 cm long, closed, with to 8 cm long black spines, inserted in groups; petiole 65 cm long, section round, with to 5 cm long black spines, inserted in groups; rachis 102 cm long, with 2 cm long black spines, inserted in groups; lamina pinnate, 130 cm long, 75 cm wide, flat, hairy; pinnae 18 per side, irregularly inserted in groups of 4-9; basal pinna 57 cm long, middle pinna 50 cm long, apical pinna 37 cm long. Inflorescence infrafoliar; prophyll 13 cm long, 2.5 cm wide, woody, with 0.1 cm long black spines; peduncular bract 32 cm long, inserted 2 cm from base, red/grey, woody, with 1.5 cm long black spines; peduncle 12 cm long, 1 cm wide, with to 0.5 cm long brown/black spines; rachis 5 cm long, 0.5 cm wide; rachillae 9, 16-17 cm long.
