| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 1 m high, 0.6 cm thick; internodes 3 cm long, > stem diameter, smooth, brown/green. Base of stem with few visible roots. Leaves 13 per stem; sheath 4 cm long, open; petiole 8 cm long, section round; rachis 23 cm long; lamina entire, 27 cm long, 6.5 cm wide, flat, glabrous. Inflorescence interfoliar; prophyll 2.5 cm long, 0.7 cm wide, papery; peduncular bract missing; peduncle 2 cm long, 0.5 cm wide; spike 4.5 cm long, 0.5 cm wide. Flowers light purple, sunken.
