| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 80 cm high, 2.4 cm thick; internodes 3 cm long, light brown, covered by leaf bases. Leaves 6 per stem; sheath 14 cm long, closed, with 1 cm long black spines; petiole 75 cm long, section round; rachis 105 cm long; lamina pinnate, 135 cm long, 70 cm wide, bushy, glabrous; pinnae 8-10 per side, irregularly inserted in groups of 2-3; basal pinna 35 cm long, middle pinna 35 cm long, apical pinna 38 cm long. Inflorescence interfoliar; prophyll 15 cm long, 2.5 cm wide, herbaceous; peduncular bract 29 cm long, inserted 5 cm from base, brown, woody, with 1 cm long brown spines; peduncle 18 cm long, 0.8 cm wide; rachis 3 cm long, 0.5 cm wide; rachillae 10, 6-11 cm long.
