| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 1.8 m high, 0.8 cm thick; internodes 6-7 cm long, smooth, black. Base of stem with few visible roots. Leaves 7 per stem; sheath 4 cm long, closed; petiole 4 cm long, section round; rachis 22 cm long; lamina entire, 32 cm long, 17 cm wide, flat, hairy. Inflorescence infrafoliar; peduncular bract 8 cm long, inserted 1 cm from base, brown, papery; peduncle 3.5 cm long, 0.4 cm wide; rachis 0 cm long; rachillae 2, 2-2.5 cm long. Silicagel sample taken.
