| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 40 cm high, 1 cm thick; internodes 3 cm long, brown, smooth, covered by leafbases. Base of stem with few visible roots. Leaves 8 per stem; sheath 14 cm long, open, with 1 cm long black spines; petiole 8 cm long, section round, with 1.5 cm long black spines; lamina entire 58 cm long, 20 cm wide, flat, glabrous. Infructescence interfoliar; prophyll 7 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, brown, papery; peduncle 5 cm long, 0.3 cm wide; spike 3 cm long, 0.5 cm wide. Fruits black, 0.5 cm long, 1.3 cm wide. Silicagel sample taken. Transect: HB 740, subunit no. 11, inside transect |
