Nodes slightly inflated, glabrous, adventitious root buds in lower ones. One main branch usually developing, many subsidiary branches with two larger than the others and up to 2 m long. Culm leaf: sheath persistent and rotting: blade small, deciduous. foliage not real dense, medium green. In flower in a spike terminal to a leafy branch.
