Field notes Clump cespitose, about 3 culms. Culms 7 m tall and 4 cm in diam., erect to an arching tip. Internodes glabrous, sulcate, dark green. Nodes slightly inflated, glabrous, adventitious root buds in lower ones. One main branch usually developing, many subsidiary branches with two larger than the others and up to 2 m long. Culm leaf: sheath persistent and rotting: blade small, deciduous. foliage not real dense, medium green. In flower in a spike terminal to a leafy branch. Culms heavy with seed, florets light green with some purple
