Locality Forest Protection Unit, 10km along road from Thong Pha Phum to Tripagodas. Site of old village in open ground. Large population of Phoenix growing amongst limestone boulders. Ground seasonally boggy. Lagerstroemia speciosa. Dominant tree.

Field notes Solitary, stem 70cm tall. Leaves 1.5-2m long. Leaflets irregularly arranged in several planes. Leaflet midrid prominent abaxially. Apical 1fts. 18 x 1.2cm; median 1fts. grouped, 30 x 1.1cm; basal 1fts. Grouped, 26 x 0.5cm. Acanthophylls yellow-green, up to 8cm long, some in pairs, gradual transition into 1fts. Leaf sheath red, fibrous, disintegrating into individual fibres. Inflorescence erect. Peduncle, 78cm long, flattened, yellow-green when flowers in bud, turning orange as fruits ripen. 19 rachillae, each 14-18cm long, orange. 18-25 flowers per rachilla, flowers not in lower 1/3 of rachilla. Female flowers yellow-white. Immature fruit green, 11 x 7mm. Pointed stigmatic remains sub-apical. Seed 8 x 5mm, grooved along length of one side. Embryo lateral.
