Field notes Solitary, single-stemmed, dioecious palm with stem to 15m tall. Stem clothed in the remains of old leaves. 27 green leaves in the crown. Leaves costapalmate, costa between 38cm and 44cm long. Petiole dark brown to yellow in colour, armed with recurved black spines, and between 123cm and 129cm long. Lamina divided to 60cm, with between 76 and 79 leaflets. Shortest leaflet between 65cm and 85cm long. Male tree with 3 semi-mature infructescences, branched to 2 orders, borne axillary. The palms are in a national park and are protected from exploitation. Vernacular: rônier, Dialect: French. Duplicates: K, OUA
