| Field notes | Tussock palm, stem branching at base erect-shoots to lm, usually less. Bark grey. Internodes from 5 mm long below leaf bases to 1 cm long lower down. Stem to 2.3 cm thick. eaves slightly shiny mid-green above, hardl paler below. Spathes dried-membranous, grey-brown, young peduncle maroon becoming, greenish-maroon in fruit. Rhaehillae similar, in ripe fruit both rhachillae and peduncle yellowing somewhat. Unripe fruit olive-green, shiny. Ripe fruit shiny black with strongly purple-stainingg pigment in mesocarp |
