Field notes Terrestrial or epiphyte; internodes short, cataphylls persisting semi-intact or as whitish fibers; petioles U-shaped, acutely sulcate with sharp margins; geniculum thickened; blade ovate, coriaceous, semiglossy, dark green above, matt, dark puntate, pale green below, rounded at apex, ± cordate at base; ""melastome look"" with three ascending basal veins on each side, first pair reaching the apex; midrib convexly raised above, acutely V-shaped below; basal veins sunken above, acutely raised below; prim., sec. & tert. veins sunken above, obtusely raised below; peduncle terete, as long as petiole, green or reddish, sometimes with abaxial rib; spathe ovate, recurved green, margin and veins sometimes tinged with red; stipe 3-5 mm; spadix erect, tapered, green to dark violet; berries green, ovate.
