Field notes Terrestrial; internodes short; cataphylls persisting as dense reticulum of dark brown fibers; petioles terete, acutely sulcate; blade triangular, chartaceous, bullate, dark green, matt above, light green, matt below; midrib raised in valley above, acutely raised below; basal veins raised above and below; prim. lateral viens, sec., tert., and collective veins sunken above (reticulate pattern), raised below; peduncle terete; spathe recurved, oblong-lanceolate, green; stipe 1 mm long; spadix 5 cm long, tapered, dark violet.
