Field notes Terrestrial; cataphylls persisting as dense reticulum of brown fibers; petioles up to 1 m long, U-shaped, acutely sulcate and usually with lateral ribs; blade up to 80 cm long, wide ovate, semicoriaceous, dark green, matt above, light green, matt below; midrib and basal veins raised above and below, midrib acute below; prim., sec. & tert. lateral veins and collective vein sunken above, raised below (reticulate pattern); peduncle terete; spathe green; stipe short; spadix brown.
