Field notes "Terrestrial; creeping rhizome; internodes 1-5 cm long, whitish green; cataphylls 3 cm long, weathering brown, deciduous; petioles D-shaped, obtusely to acutely sulcate; geniculum 1 cm long; blade sagittate, chartaceous, matt, dark green above, matt, light green below; midrib, prim. & sec. lateral and collective veins sunken above, raised below; spathe caducous; spadix violet."
