Field notes "Terrestrial, scandent; internodes 2-5 cm long, light green; cataphylls weathering to a mass of white fibres; petioles terete, acutely sulcate, 35-60 cm long; geniculum to 2.5 cm long, same colour as petiole; lamina cordate, chartaceous, matt, dark green on upper surface; midrib raised above & below, all other veins clearly sunken above, raised below, creating a reticulate pattern; sinus between basal lobes hippocrepiform; peduncle flattened with broad, convex rib adaxially; spathe caducous; spadix red, cylindric, 9 cm long."
