| Field notes | Climbing palm to 5 m up in tree overhanging water; main stem ca. 2 cm in diameter; stems, leaf petioles, rachises, and infructescence prophyll with blackspines; leaves ca. 1 m long total length, with 9-10 blade-like pinnae per side proximally and another 4-6 per side distally that have been modified to climbing hooks; infructescence prophyll ca. 30 cm long; mature fruit bright red, leathery, more or less globose ca. 1.5 cm in diameter. |
