| Field notes | Solitary understory palm. Stem 110 cm high, 2.2 cm thick, rough; internodes 3 cm long; base of stem with few visible roots: Leaves 7; leaf sheath 12.5 cm long, open, with 0.5-2 cm long brown spines; petiole 1 cm long, section margined; rachis 36 cm long, with 0.2 cm long brown spines; lamina entire, 36 cm long, 16 cm wide, hairy. Infructescence infrafoliar; prophyll 4 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, herbaceous; peduncular bract 8 cm long, inserted 4 cm from base, brown, herbaceous; peduncle 6 cm long, 1.5 cm wide; rachis 4 cm long, 1 cm wide; rachillae 4, 3-5 cm long. Fruits orange, 1x1 cm, with 0.3 cm long brown spines. DNA sample not taken. Transect 1040, subunit no. 54, outside transect. |
