| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 4 m high, 4.2 cm thick, covered by leaf bases; internodes 6 cm long; base of stem with few visible roots. Leaves 8 per stem; leaf sheath 39 cm long, open, with 2-6 cm long yellow-black spines; petiole 99 cm long, section round, with 3-5 cm long black-yellow spines; lamina pinnate, 125 cm long, 84 cm wide, glabrous; pinnae 7 per side, irregularly inserted in groups, basal pinna 43 cm long, middle pinna 42 cm long, apical pinna 37 cm long.
