| Field notes | Cespitose understory palm. Stem 2-4 m high, 1.5 cm thick; internodes 4.4 cm long; base of stem with few visible roots. Leaves 8-10 per stem; leaf sheath 5 cm long, open; petiole 11.4 cm long, section margined; rachis 26.3 cm long; lamina entire, 26.3 cm long, 18.2 cm wide, glabrous. Inflorescence infrafoliar; prophyll 1.2 cm long, 2.3 cm wide, herbaceous; peduncular bract 4 cm long, inserted 1 cm from base, brown, herbaceous; peduncle 5 cm long, 0.5 cm wide; rachis 7.6 cm long, 0.8 cm wide; rachillae 8, 27-34 cm long.
