| Field notes | Solitary, understory palm. Stem aerial, 1.2 m high, 1.1 cm thick; internodes 10 cm long, >stem diameter, brown, smooth. Leaves 6 per stem; sheaths 24.5 cm long, open, with black, 1.5 cm long spines; petiole 55 cm long, margined in cross section, with black, 1.5 cm long spines; rachis 35 cm long; lamina entire, 60 cm long, 31 cm wide, flat.
