| Field notes | Understory palm. Stem aerial, 1.4 m high, 1 cm thick; internodes 3.5 cm long, >stem diameter, brown, smooth. Leaves 7 per stem; sheaths 28 cm long, open, with black, 0.5-1.5 cm long spines; petiole 39 cm long, round in cross section, with black, to 4 cm long spines; rachis 47 cm long; lamina pinnate, flat; pinnae 3-5 per side, inserted regularly, basal pinna 40 cm, middle pinna 39 cm, apical pinna 46 cm long. Inflorescence interfoliar; peduncular bract 20 cm long, with white, 1 cm long spines. Transect HB1019, subunit no. 070; UTM 19N-436692-393135. |
