| Field notes | Cespitose, midstory palm. Stem aerial, 6.5 m high, 5 cm thick; internodes 12 cm, > stem diameter, smooth. No crownshaft. Leaves 11 per stem; sheaths open, 62 cm long, with yellow-white, 5 cm long spines; petiole 65 cm long, margined in cross-section, with yellow-white, 5 cm long spines; rachis 200-212 cm long, with yellow-white, 4 cm long spines; lamina pinnate, bushy, glabrous; pinnae inserted irregularly in groups of 3-5. Infructescence interfoliar; peduncular bract, woody, 44 cm long, with brown, 3 cm long spines; peducle 41 cm long, 1.5 cm thick, with black spines; rachis 14 cm long, with 1.5 cm long spines. Fruits green, 1.1 cm long, 1.5 cm wide. Transect HB1008, subnit no. 078; UTM 19N-568385-426872. |
