| Field notes | Solitary, understory palm. Stem 2.1 m long, 1 cm in diameter; internodes 8 cm long, > stem diameter, brown, smooth. Leaves 5 per stem; sheaths open, 16 cm long, with black, 2 cm long spines; petiole 38 cm long, margined in cross-section, with black, 2.2 cm long spines; rachis 30 cm long; lamina flat, 17.5 cm long, 52 cm wide, with 1 segment per side. Infructescence and old flowers present. Transect HB1005, outside subunit no. 015; UTM 19N-573208-442838. |
