Field notes Clustering, moderately robust rattan to 20m. Stem diameter with sheaths 35mm, without sheaths 20mm. Internodes 6cm. Sheath dark green with dense dirty brown indument and numerous fine spines, indumentum rusty orange on new sheath, leaf rachis and leaflet midribs. Ocrea 15-20cm, papery, sometime divided longitudinally into 2 auricles. Flagellum present. Leaf 118cm long including 16cm petiole. Leaflets 29 each side, arranged regularly. Inflorescence 520cm including peduncle of 63cm and flagelliform distal portion of 230cm, 7 partial inflorescences, 45cm between partial inflorescences, longest partial inflorescence 40cm. Purple latex exuded from cut leaf rachis. is. Vernacular: Kobing, Dialect: Kotte
