Field notes Solitary tree palm to c. 7 m. Stem 4 cm diam. Internodes 3.5 cm. Crown with 7 leaves. Crownshaft poorly defined, 50 cm long x 7 cm wide. Sheath 32 cm long, pale grey-green with schattered rusty scales. Leaf 153 cm long including 24 cm petiole. Leaflets 24 on each side of rachis, arranged in irregular groups of 2-6 and in different planes. Inflorescence comprising 3 spicate axes, each 140 cm long including 70 cm peduncle, prophyll 37 cm long. Fruit narrowly ovoid, almost ripe, 35 mm long x 15 mm wide, turning purple red.
