| Field notes | Moderately robust clustering rattan to c.8m. Stem diameter with sheaths 15mm, without sheaths 11 mm. Flagellum c.2m. Sheath dark green with numerous short spines. Ocrea 30cm long, dark purple-brown when young, drying brown, but with pale green base. Leaf 75cm long including 34cm petiole. Leaflets 5 each side of rachis, in 2 divaricate groups. Inflorescence to 200cm including 33cm peduncle, with 1 or rarely 2 partial inflorescences. Cane for tying timbers in building construction - the "village nail" Vernacular: Kobing, Dialect: Kotte |
