Field notes Moderately robust clustering rattan to c.8m. Stem diameter with sheaths 15mm, without sheaths 11 mm. Flagellum c.2m. Sheath dark green with numerous short spines. Ocrea 30cm long, dark purple-brown when young, drying brown, but with pale green base. Leaf 75cm long including 34cm petiole. Leaflets 5 each side of rachis, in 2 divaricate groups. Inflorescence to 200cm including 33cm peduncle, with 1 or rarely 2 partial inflorescences. Cane for tying timbers in building construction - the "village nail" Vernacular: Kobing, Dialect: Kotte
