| Field notes | Solitary palm, growing to 17m tall. Diam. 4cm; nodes 10-15cm long. Crownshaft 45cm long. 7 leaves on the crown. Leaf to 125cm long;petiole 25cm long; leaflets 25 pcs on each side of the rachis, irregularly arranged (ingroup of 2 to 3 groups), jagged at the tip. Infructescence infrafoliar, 30cm long, 19 branches. Ripe fruit red. Uses: Trunk used for making chicken coop and spear, its youngshoots edible. Local name: Koeyauw (Yei Lang.) |
