Field notes Medium soilitary palm. Trunk to 10 m high, 15 cm in diam; nodes 5-8 cm long, conspicious ring scars. Leave 22 pcs on the crown. Leaf fan shaped, 140 cm in diam, 80-82 segments, petiole 1.5-2 m long. Infructescence interfoliar, 120 cm long, peduncle 60 cm long, 3 primary branches, then branching to 3 secondary branches. Young fruits green, ripe fruits yellowish red, 5 x 4 cm. Trunk used for making bow; leaf used as umbrella and roofing the camp; young shoot edible
