| Field notes | Solitary palm tree. Stem c. 3.50 m long and 11 cm dbh, brownish w/ ring-like leaf-scars; leaf-scars w/ a single triangular mark. Crownshaft c. 1 m long. Leaves 6; petiole c. 30 cm long; leaf blade pinnately compound; rachis c. 2 m long, w/ 48 pinnae on each side. Inflorescence infrafoliar, compound of spikes, branched to two orders; prophyll deciduous; peduncular bracts 4, deciduous, leaving circular scars; peduncle c. 20 cm short; rachis 80 cm long. Fruits single-seeded, 2 cm in diameter, brain-like wrinkled and slightly two-lobed, appearing two-carpellate, w/ minute projection at base (an aborted carpel); exocarp smooth and w/ minute orange dots; Seed 1.2 cm in diamter and w/ whitish endosperm.
