| Field notes | Acaulescent, caespitose palm with about 6-9 stems per cluster. Dioecious. Leaves c.10-15 per stem, pinnate. Leaf sheath 193 cm long, with spines gathered in clusters of 1-7. Petiole triangular in CS to subterete, shallowly grooved above with minute spines. Leaf rachis 3.2 m long. Leaflets 2 x 42, 4-6 x 30-98 cm, glabrous below, above with small spines along the major venis. Inflorescence terminal, compact, partly hidden amongst the leaves. Male inflorescence erect, with catkin-like rachilla. Local name: Kha han. |
