Gunong Mulu National Park. 4th Division. Submontane forest. Trees heavily covered in moss and epiphytes; largest size of emergent Eugenia species about 20 m. Soil with a rich organic layer of peat foro about 10 cm; then a pale white leached layer; soil heavily waterlogged. Rich herb cover present on the ground.

Epiphyte growing 4 m high on the stump of a dead tree. Flowering stems borne from a mass of central bulbs. Flower fragrant; bracts brown and papery; tepals yellowish green escept for the labellum which has scarlet markings on its inner thraet; filament and anther light green; style and stigma white.
