| Field notes | Trunk colonial, 12 stems per cluster, 3 m tall, brown, dbh 5.5-6.0 cm without sheaths. Spines black, flattened,3.5-4.5 cm long on leaf sheaths and randomly on trunk. Leaf sheaths brown, ascending, leaflets irregularly arranged, horizontal-drooping, adaxial surface dark green, abaxial light green. Inflorescence interfoliar, two per stem, erect to arching. Infructescence arching to pendulous, light green. Fruit orange, smooth, 12 x 15 mm. Alcohol treated |
