| Field notes | Cult. herb 2-3.5 m. tall. Leaf above dark green, tip and margin may be tinged purple in young leaves; midrib yellow-green; lower surface grey-green, margin purple. Pulvinus olive green or with purple tinge (or slight brownish green). Prtiole green, smooth, tinged reddish brown toward base. Sheath red-brown to dark purplish. Cataphylls dark red-purple. Bracts bronzy (Yellowish or green-streaked)with reddish brown. Bicarinate prophylls yellowish (pale peach), ovary vream. Sepals pale yellow, translucent at base; tips tinged orange. Tube pale yellow, petals pale yellow orange. Outer staminode yellow. Cultivated on steep hillside field above Maldonado. N.v. "añuque" "añulque2 |
