Field notes Rhizomatous herb 4 m. tall, rhizome erect, 5 cm. in diameter. Lf. dark green above, semi-shiny, midrib yellow-green; lf. dull grey-green below, pulvinus dark greenish purple. Infl. bracts green when young, infl. soon pendant, bracts dilacerating into fibres. Ovary cream. Sepals white. Corolla tube white, petals yellow. Outer staminode dark purple, callose staminode purple apically, white basally, cucullate staminode white, style cream.
