Leaves 2 - 4 per shoot; sheath 61 - 83.5 cm, distichous, whitish/grayish scatter hairs, papery, pale green or yellowish, red at base; petiole 149.5 - 208 cm long, less slender laterally or ellipse in cross section, glabrous, fresh green; pulvinus 11.5 - 14 cm long, yellowish green with yellow ring at base; lamina 80.5 x 25.8 - 96.5 x 35.3 cm, oblong - elliptic, light green above, greyish green, sometimes in the left side near margin there's a purplish part vertically to lateral veins and purplish lines following lateral veins, apex cuspidate, basis equilateral. Inflorescence interfoliar, erect; peduncle accompanying with peduncular leaf, 106 - 184 cm, brown hairs, setose, green to brownish green; synflorescence elongate, 26 - 35 cm long, brown, node red, bract in primary axis 7 - 10 cm, fresh green, distichously arranged, lanceolate; lateral bract 3 - 5 x 0.9 - 2 cm; lateral branches spirally arranged, first order 3, appear from same base, next order branches 1 - 3; flower 1 pairs per special paraclade; fruits 2 - 6 per orders. Flower white, c. 8 cm long; sepals subulate, 27 x 3 mm; corolla tube 50 mm long; staminal tube 5 mm longer than corolla tube; corolla lobes lanceolate, 25 x 4.5 mm, petaloid staminode lobes 2, the first free petaloid staminode lobe 22 x 22 mm; the second petaloid staminode lobe with small trig appendage 25 x 19 mm: cucullate staminode 5 x 2.5 mm, stamen 4.5 mm long; style 3.5 mm long, ovary 7 mm. Fruit carmine, groove, white hairs, globose, c. 15 mm in diameter, dehiscent, cell 3, sometimes 1 sterile. seed 3, c. 8 mm long. Uses: Food packing. V.n. Moskoifei (Meyach - Mandacan dialect). |
