| Field notes | Logged primary forest. Slender rattan palm in small tree. Stem c. 9m, 7-8mm at base (without sheaths), 1.5cm at widest point with sheaths. Roots visible for 5cm from ground to stem base. One main stem + 3 small shoots at base. Bare stem mid dark green, spiny stem darker green{ spines light green at tips, especially long spines. Internodes 20-35cm, sometimes nested in by ants. Sheaths mid green. Petiole 3-5cm dark green with light green spines with brown tips. 10-12 pairs of leaflets, alternate to subopposite. Cirrus dark green, claws light green with black tips. No evidence of flowering. 2 specimens. Leaves hanging horizontally when older with cirrus drooping. Young leaves at 45° to stem with cirrus arching gently away. Sap thick and milky colour |
