| Field notes | These the first 10 plants seen ascending the valley, more said to grow further upstream and reaching large sizes. This one with trunk ca. I m. tall, completely covered with leaves or old leaf bases, the bases of leaves with abun-dant brownish-tan "zunca" fibers which are the basis for a local rope and mattress industry. Leaflets 78 per side, green above, whitish below; rachis 2.1 m. long. No inflorescences. |
