Field notes Rhizome basically creeping, but sometimes oddly folded together underground. 4-5 cm thick, 'stipules' 3x2.5 cm, pink, rhizome with pink sticky exudate when cut. 7-12 leafs per plant. It seems to make first sterile, then proliferous and following fertile leafs. Leafs aborted at the apex by a proliferous bud or with an normally developed pinna, shiny green above, dull and lighter almost white beneath. Veins mostly forked. Stipe with 2 nodes, nodes 12mm thick, with dark redish brown scales. nr of pinna 13-20 per leaf. Leafs 90-125 cm long, the proliferating leafs in the shroter range. Petioles 52-70 cm long. Leafs bending over easily, leathery, bending down the slope. Fertile leafs without nodes, stipe thicker (1 cm.)
