| Field notes | Solitary palm tree, about 9 m tall. Stem blackish, shiny, fissured, 28 cm in diam. Distance between leaf scars at base 8-10 cm, width of leaf scars 1-1.5 cm. Crown of 59 leaves. Leaf base about 50 cm long, transition into petiole indistinct, splitting to the base on one side and with short split on the other side. Petiole about 280 cm long, uniform dark green, channeled adaxially, rounded abaxially, about 5 cm wide in the middle part. Blade palmate, middle part of blade 179 cm long (hastula to apex), basal part of blade 132 cm long in one side, 151 cm in the other. Material collected: 1) fruit preserved in alcohol, 2) germinating seed, 3) young plant, and 4) partial infructescence with immature fruit. |
